Netflix recently dropped the price of their basic plan to $5/month for the basic plan at Netflix. It makes good sense for someone like me who has a TiVo and would only really be interested in movies that aren't on cable yet. The basic $5/month plan gets you two movies a month, one out at a time, and they pick up the shipping costs as always. That's cheaper than a rental store, and you're not paying for gas to drive there. You can cancel any time without penalties, in case you just want to try it for a month or two. It's only $10/month for unlimited one-disc-out rentals. Plus, all plans start with a free two week trial before your credit card even gets dinged.
I recently signed up as a result, and so far so good. In fact, I have a quick story to share. I rented Lucky Number Slevin and when I opened the shipping envelope last night, the disc was broken. I logged into Netflix to report it, and after just a few mouseclicks I was done. They automatically put the film back at the top of my queue, and today I got an email that a new disc shipped and will arrive tomorrow. That's some fast, no-hassle customer service, and I dig that.

I spent several hours with this site streaming music in the background, so I'm giving it another mention. Worth a half hour if you haven't tried it. You type the name of any song or band you like, and Pandora starts streaming similar music. Great interface and recommendations in my experience.
